Being brought up near the sea, with the Essex countryside around, marine and landscape are among his favourite subjects, together with urban scenes and interiors. He finds as much colour and vitality in a working factory as an unspoiled landscape, and was appointed Artist in residence for the construction of a major local Community Hall.
